October 11, 2024 - NAACP Pine Bluff Branch 32nd Annual Dove Freedom Fund Banquet
The NAACP Pine Bluff Branch honored the inaugural recipient of the Jack E. Foster, Sr. Courageous Award during the 32nd Annual Dove Freedom Fund Banquet. Jack Sr. was deeply committed to the Pine Bluff community and his fellow Arkansans, but above all, he cherished his wife and children. To our surprise, the first award was presented to the most important people in his life—his wife and children.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to NAACP Pine Bluff Branch President Ivan Whitfield and the entire NAACP Pine Bluff Branch for their hospitality and for recognizing Jack Sr.'s unwavering dedication to the Pine Bluff community. The story shared about his courageous efforts in persuading the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission to drain an entire lake to ensure the safety of fish for the Pine Bluff community was particularly moving.
Derrick Johnson’s (NAACP National President/CEO) speech was both inspiring and thought-provoking. The reminder that we cannot rest on our laurels resonated deeply, highlighting that while we’ve achieved significant milestones, there’s still much work to be done. The call to action encouraged everyone to remain engaged and proactive, reinforcing the idea that advocacy is an ongoing journey. It was a powerful reminder of the collective responsibility we share in creating a more equitable society.
A special thank you to our community that supported us. We love you and appreciate you!
